Held in March the streets of Denia come to life with music, unique, colourful and spectacular figures "Fallero monuments” to celebrate the arrival of spring. Approximately 2000 local people every year become involved in the organisation of this festival, which gives special attention to the arrival of longer daylight hours, with firecrackers, fires and fireworks. Buying a new home in Denia will never be boring but, if you don’t want to be in the thick of things, there are quieter, residential, locations within easy reach of the town.

The Fallas were started by a group of young residents in 1927 to celebrate St Joseph and became a regular festival for Denia’s inhabitants in 1947. Organised by local mayors, councils and the people of the city. Floats are decorated to carry the giant handmade Papier-Mache figures which townsfolk create themselves each year. Frequently the figures will be caricatures representing public figures who have been in the news during the previous months.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to immerse yourself in local life, when you have bought your dream home in Denia, and participate in this unique, annual celebration?
The main parties take place from 15th to 19th March, with various entertaining acts, in addition to the main procession and placing of the Fallas. Bands play, national dress is worn and finally the Falla statues are burnt.
